Monterey Park riding is the 60 for distance and the hill streets above Garvey for everything else — gradient, corners and moderate speed with houses close on both sides. Angeles Crest is reachable for a weekend. The hill streets are the interesting condition: enough corner and climb to need real output, and close enough to houses that a system set up to be heard from a block away is a problem rather than a feature. Atlantic and Garfield are the everyday corridors, busy and commercial, and between those and the hill streets there is almost no fast riding inside the city at all — the 60 is the only place the bike sees sustained speed.

Riding a bagger on residential hill streets is where the difference between a directed system and a broadcast one becomes obvious. A fairing speaker throws sound outward in every direction including at the houses on either side; a pod aimed at the rider does not. That is a practical consideration in a neighbourhood this dense, and it is not one most bagger audio marketing mentions at all. There is also a question of what the neighbours actually hear, which is not the same as what you hear. Sound from a fairing speaker leaves the bike and reaches a house at a level set by how far it travelled, so on a narrow hill street with houses fifteen feet away it arrives loud. From a pod aimed at the rider, most of it never leaves the bike in that direction at all.
