El Monte is 26.6 miles from the Avalon pin. Valley Boulevard or Garvey Avenue toward the 10 west, then the 710 south toward Avalon. Forty to fifty minutes on a bagger. The alternate is Santa Anita Avenue south to the 60 west, then the 605 and 710. The 10 west is the gamble and on a bike it is worth going early. Ride in or trailer in. Maps pin 22025 S Avalon Blvd Ste A, CA 90745.

El Monte sits between the Rio Hondo and San Gabriel river corridors with the 10 and the 60 both close, and riders here have Angeles Crest in range to the north. The everyday riding is valley surface streets and freeway; the good riding is a planned trip. That split is worth naming because the system has to be right for the ordinary rides as well as the memorable ones, and most people only think about the memorable ones when they are buying.

AMS Pods start at $649 a pair. Chrome or gloss, crash-bar bracket and screws included, built to order in-house, about three weeks. Nothing gets invented beyond $649 a pair. A full bagger build is usually up to about ten business days in the shop, confirmed in person once the bike has been seen.

Richard makes the pods in Carson, in-house since 2003. Hertz Neo goes inside — small neodymium magnet, weatherproof, clear at volume. Street Glide and Road Glide take a fairing amplifier and a tank pull. On a Road King the pods carry the job and the amplifier lives in a bag on a carpeted board with an AMS quick disconnect. Bag bass is cut lids, concave drilling, carpeted spacers, inverted speakers and soldered quick disconnects.

Street Glide, Road Glide and Road King. Harley radios in the shop are Diamond Audio, plus Sony and Soundstream. At forty-plus minutes each way, ring ahead so the trip is planned — pods are about three weeks to build and Nick will tell you whether the bike needs to come down on the first visit.

The mistake is specifying for the ride you are looking forward to rather than the ride you actually do most weeks. A system set up for a Crest run is not automatically pleasant on Garvey at thirty-five, and most El Monte miles are Garvey rather than Crest. Pods suit both because the geometry works at any speed, which means you are not choosing which half of your riding to optimise for. The clearest way to check this is to think about where the volume knob actually sits on an ordinary Tuesday. If the answer is very near the bottom of its travel, the system is oversized for your riding, and the range you paid for is range you never reach.

A system that is right on Garvey on a Tuesday and still right on the Crest on a Saturday. Weatherproof pods. Nothing that works loose after a season. Bags that come off in seconds. And a build that only needed one trip down the 10.

Valley or Garvey to the 10 west, then the 710 south — 26.6 miles, forty to fifty minutes, go early. AMS Pods from $649 a pair, about three weeks built to order. Hertz Neo inside. Full bagger usually up to about ten business days.

Worth combining at this distance. Car audio is LA Car Beats at lacarbeats.com — and on a high-mileage car with old work in it, removal is the honest first step. Window tint is LA Car Tint at lacartint.com — 3M Authorized Dealer, severe valley heat. Vehicle security is LA Car Alarm at lacaralarm.com — GPS on work vans.

Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Sunday closed. Pods are about three weeks built to order. At forty-plus minutes each way, call and plan the visit rather than riding down on spec. A Payment Plan is at the counter once the bike is quoted. Google shows 4.8 from 654 reviews.

If you ride out of El Monte, specify for the Tuesday on Garvey rather than the Saturday on the Crest — you will do far more of the first. Call or text (310) 513-8800 and ask for Nick. 22025 S Avalon Blvd Ste A, CA 90745.

FAQ

Are you in El Monte?

No. There is no El Monte motorcycle storefront. AMS Pods is the Harley bagger-audio side of Audio MotorSports at 22025 S Avalon Blvd Ste A, CA 90745 — 26.6 miles away.

Should I specify for canyon rides or everyday rides?

Both, and pods make that possible because the geometry works at any speed. Most people specify for the ride they are looking forward to rather than the one they actually do most weeks.

How much are AMS pods if I ride from El Monte?

Pods start at $649 a pair — chrome or gloss, bracket and screws included, built to order in-house, about three weeks.

Which bikes do you build for?

Street Glide, Road Glide and Road King. Those three only on these pages.

Do Street Glide and Road Glide need a tank pull?

Yes, both take a fairing amplifier and a tank pull so the wiring runs properly.

What about a Road King?

No fairing, so the pods carry the whole job and the amplifier lives in a bag on a carpeted board with an AMS quick disconnect.

How do I avoid riding down twice?

Call first. Pods are about three weeks to build, so Nick will tell you whether the bike needs to come on the first trip.

Do you offer a Payment Plan from El Monte?

Yes. A Payment Plan is available at the counter after the bike is quoted. Payment Plan is the only name for it.

Should I specify for the ride I look forward to?

No — specify for the ride you actually do most weeks. Most El Monte miles are Garvey rather than Crest, and a system set up for the Crest is not automatically pleasant at thirty-five.

What's in scope at the Avalon bay?

Car audio, window tint, and vehicle security — plus Harley bagger audio on the AMS Pods side. Body work, wraps, paint protection film, and auto glass are other trades; we'll point you to someone good rather than guess.
